Specifications & Details:

  • Strictly limited to 29 signed and numbered units.

  • Materials: Premium hand-finished Alder surfacing, with high-stability Birch plywood core.

  • Dimensions: 73" W | 30.75" H | 16" D

  • Hardware: Soft-close hinges and shelving included.

  • Customization: Alternative finishes and custom dimensions available upon request.

Important Notes:

  •  Annual Inspection: Once a year, inspect all veneer edges, door alignment, hinge function, and canvas surface condition. Early detection of minor issues prevents costly restoration.

  •  Professional Restoration: For any damage beyond light surface scratching—veneer delamination, canvas tears, structural loosening, hinge failure—contact penHun directly. Do not attempt structural repairs independently. Each piece is built to order with specific materials and methods; generic repair approaches may cause further damage.

  •  Documentation: Retain your certificate of authenticity, edition number, and purchase documentation. These are required for any warranty service or restoration consultation with penHun.

Upon Arrival

Your piece ships fully assembled within its outer frame. Due to its scale and weight, a minimum of two people are needed for unpacking and placement. Remove all protective packaging materials before positioning. Inspect all surfaces, hinges, and shelving for any shipping-related concerns before discarding packaging.

Placement

  • Position on a level, stable surface. The open base is a structural design element — it does not require floor attachment, but the piece should be placed against a wall or stable vertical surface for safety, particularly in seismic zones or households with children.

  • Avoid placing in direct, prolonged sunlight. UV exposure over time may alter the finish of the wood surfacing. If positioned near windows, consider UV-filtering window treatments.

  • Allow a minimum of 2" clearance behind the piece for air circulation, particularly if placed against an exterior wall.

Surface Care

  • Routine cleaning: Wipe with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Microfiber is suitable.

  • Spot cleaning: Dampen the cloth lightly with water. Wipe, then immediately dry. Do not allow moisture to sit on the surface.

  • Do not use: Chemical cleaners, abrasive pads, furniture polish sprays, ammonia-based products, bleach, or alcohol-based solutions. These can damage the hand-finished surface.

  • Wax and oil: Do not apply furniture wax, lemon oil, or conditioning products unless specifically recommended by penHun for your finish type.

Hardware

  • Soft-close hinges are factory-calibrated and should not require adjustment upon arrival. If the closing speed changes over time:

  • Check that no objects inside the cabinet are interfering with the door path.

  • Hinges may be adjusted with a Phillips-head screwdriver using the three adjustment screws (depth, height, lateral). If unfamiliar with this process, contact penHun directly.

  • Do not oil, lubricate, or spray any substance into the hinge mechanism.

Shelving

  • Interior shelves may be repositioned to accommodate different storage needs. When adjusting:

  • Remove all items from the shelf before repositioning.

  • Lift the shelf straight up and out. Do not drag or slide.

  • Reinsert shelf pins into the desired pre-drilled positions before replacing the shelf.

  • Do not exceed the recommended weight capacity per shelf. Contact penHun for specific load limits if storing heavy items.

Artwork Panel (If Applicable)

  • Some pieces may be paired with a separate artwork panel displayed on the cabinet face. If you have purchased one:

  • The panel is designed to sit against or mount to the front doors. Specific mounting instructions are included with the art piece.

  • Do not use adhesive tape, nails, or screws not provided by penHun to attach artwork to the cabinet doors.

  • Clean the artwork surface according to the instructions provided with that specific piece — care requirements may differ from the cabinet body.

Environmental Conditions

  • Temperature: Maintain a stable indoor temperature between 60°F–80°F (15°C–27°C).

  • Humidity: Keep relative humidity between 35%–55%. Significant fluctuations can cause wood movement — slight expansion or contraction in the surfacing material. This is a natural characteristic of solid wood and wood-veneered surfaces, not a defect.

  • Avoid: Placement near radiators, heating vents, fireplaces, humidifiers, or dehumidifiers operating at close range.

Moving and Relocation

  • Always use two or more people when moving the piece.

  • Remove all interior contents and shelving before moving.

  • Carry from the base frame — do not lift by the doors or the top edge of the frame.

  • If the piece needs to pass through doorways, measure clearance against the full frame dimensions, not just the cabinet body.

  • Re-level after placement in a new location.

Long-Term Care

  • Periodically check hinge operation and shelf pin stability.

  • Inspect the frame joints and base corners for any loosening, particularly if the piece has been relocated.

  • The hand-finished wood surface will develop a subtle patina over time. This is expected and reflects the natural aging of the material.
